Sitting with sadness, shoulder to shoulder
My twin shadow, only she is void of color.
Moving when I move
Still when I’m stone
A dedicated mime
Somber and lone.
Busyness silences her deafening pain
Yet sunset beckons once again
Capturing, I strangle and lock her deep
Only to be haunted by her bellowing weep.
So unshackled, uncaged, free, we sit
Shoulders collapsed by her weights omit
Sadness so thick it strangles the heart
Like the humidity on a southern summer start
She demands to be acknowledged
Insists to be seen.
So we sit shoulder to shoulder,
Until contentment, I gleam.
Deep and sad
